Nancy Menetrey Noel Hickey, photographer

This portrait of the photographer Noel Hickey was painted by his colleague, Nancy Menetrey (née Wilkinson), who worked as a negative retoucher in his studio in Sydney at the time.

An amateur painter, Menetrey is believed to be the first woman to join the St George Art Society, and the society has since named its award for contemporary and abstract painting after her.
