This year has unearthed much chaos and tragedy. The coronavirus pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on our community and forced us inside our homes. As a Victorian currently experiencing stage-four lockdown, some form of escapism is necessary. It’s the small pockets of nature like the one featured in my painting, Lalla, that offer respite and tranquillity amid such challenging conditions. Local parks and gardens enable us to recharge our batteries and are imperative to our physical and mental wellbeing. My painting explores my ongoing interest in the relationship between people and nature within an urban context.
