This painting is the result of eight days spent in the Tasmanian wilderness, totally ‘off grid’. I was waking up at 4.30am every morning, jet-lagged and fatigued after a month in London with family and friends. Camping along the river, I’d spend hours alone every morning, immersing myself in the landscape and climate, painting the light, mood and colour of the Australian bush. Painting, for me, is a spiritual experience; during this time, I was able to connect with nature and with the energy of the earth. This work is an expression of both that journey, and a resetting of my inner self.
