Hiromi Tango Red moon

neon and mixed media

35 x 130 x 130 cm

Red moon is part of an ongoing series of works exploring themes of embedded trauma and the potential for healing through art. The intense colour of Red moon signals primal emotions and reactions triggered from the amygdala – a part of the brain no bigger than a dice that is responsible for the ‘fight or flight’ reaction. It speaks to a state of mind where we become driven by survival instincts, and embedded fears that, left unaddressed, only seem to grow larger. Red moon does not feel safe, but the danger is in the past. Gradually fear recedes, giving way to gentle illumination.
