In the far west of New South Wales and into South Australia, places such as the banks of the Darling River, Mutawintji, the Flinders Ranges and Burra are islands separated by vast flat plains. When crossing those plains time blurs into the distance. They are places where the fleeting moment feels endless.

Last year, I made a suite of paintings grounded in my memories of many crossings of the western plains. West of Wilcania II is one of that suite.
