Belynda Henry The trees

acrylic, pastel and graphite on canvas

122 x 152 cm

My painting The trees is part of an evolving series of paintings that began in 2012 in which my work has seen a swing from abstracted, geometric-style landscapes towards more of a representation of the landscape I am so intrigued by.

The landscape has been my main subject and source of inspiration for over 15 years. However, for the first time I am completely noticing the trees. I see them as stunning shapes and contrasting colours, fitting together like a huge jigsaw puzzle into the landscape.

To me this painting is a calm, tranquil place. Living in a long, beautiful valley, it is a summary of all the amazing flashes of landscape I drive past everyday.
