Rebecca Marshall Three sisters

Like so many myths and stories from the past, Three sisters takes place in a forest. The figures are shapeshifters, a multitude of beings: human, animal, tree and more. They desire to belong to the forest, a character of its own, alive, wondrous, yet dangerous and beautiful.

Exploring ideas around mythology, gender and ecology, my paintings are made with layers of paint, gestural brushstrokes and vivid colours. They create non-linear narratives, piecing together elements and materials to retell unknown yet universal stories that exist somewhere between reality and a dream.
