This is our choir singing at Rungutjirpa/Simpson’s Gap. Singing in our language on our Country. We’re from all over the desert. We’re many peoples, many languages choir.
I been singing in the choir for long time, ever since I was young. I didn’t understand Arrernte. I speak Pitjantjatjara, but I sang in Arrernte. When we were young ones, we used to climb up the hills at Utju for fun, looking for minkulpe (bush/native tobacco), and we would sing.
Our choir has been all over the world. Last Christmas they sang at Sydney Opera House, but I couldn’t go. Not a young one anymore. But I still love the choir. Singing together makes us feel good, you know?
