Malcolm Cunningham Musos wanted

acrylic on plywood

122.2 x 81 cm

I use drawing and image-making as key factors in the development of ideas and themes. Some drawings might look deceptively simple, while others appear complex. The inspiration for Musos wanted originated from Japanese woodblock prints that use flat colour fields and the suggestion of line to convey a message to the viewer.

We live in an age of pervasive information and communication, but the artist is more isolated than ever. The solitary musician in this painting is interpreting his creativity to his audience, Pablo [Picasso] and Elvis. His remoteness makes him a target for depression, although he is in harmony with his artistry.
