Grace Kemarre Robinya Laramba mob mustering time, olden days

acrylic on linen

121.5 x 50.5 cm

Grace Kemarre Robinya’s paintings narrate her long life from her childhood spent at Hermannsburg Mission to working on Central Australian pastoral stations with her family.

She describes the scenes in this painting, from top to bottom:

‘Laramba mob out mustering, morning time – olden time – heading out to go mustering. Rain falling on that range.’

‘Lunch time, travelling to set up camp – olden time – no cars, all horses and swags and billies and rations.’

‘Night-time back in camp – kids playing, lots of dogs, everyone in blankets, you know…’
