Andrew Sullivan Dinosaur trophy head
oil on linen
182 x 244 cm
A couple of years ago I was offered a position as an artist on an expedition to the Upper Cretaceous.
The landscape I entered was very alien. Hungry animals, disease, bad weather and poor leadership took their toll. Science and investigation turned into folly. Many were lost. I beheld every experience from sheer wonder to absolute terror.
I learnt much from this journey, but two things that this particular painting addresses is that both time and dimension are relative, and that one must follow one’s reason for being.
