Carla Fletcher Kevin

pencil and acrylic on linen

112 x 137 cm

Kevin (Kev) was rejected by his mother at birth and hand-reared by humans. As a result he has no idea about personal space and thinks he’s human, not a 17-hand Clydesdale horse.

Initially, Kev was bred to be an official draft horse for Carlton United Brewery to pull the beer barrel dray, but once again he was rejected because of his colour.

The number of Clydesdales around the world has declined rapidly and they are considered to be at risk of extinction.

Kevin is now 10 years old and lives in Balnarring Beach, Victoria, where he is owned and much loved by Bruce and Sue Fletcher.
