Nic Fern Vicki Wilson

This portrait by Nic Fern of netballer Vicki Wilson was a finalist in the Daily Telegraph Sporting Portrait Prize, held in conjunction with the Archibald Prize 2000.

Born in 1971, Fern is a self-taught artist. Having played netball herself from a young age, she has a fondness for the sport and a huge respect for those who play it at an elite level. Wilson is one of the great achievers of the sport with three world championships and 99 tests for her country. She become interested in Fern’s work through and arts and craft market just outside Noosa in Queensland where Fern and her husband have a stall.
