Robert Hannaford Peter van Rood

The subject of Robert Hannaford’s portrait is Dutch-born Peter van Rood (1916-1998), a well-known figure in Adelaide and a pioneer in South Australia’s wine industry. It is one of two paintings that Hannaford exhibited in the 1993 Archibald Prize; the other is of Max Harris.
