Artist and restaurateur Mirka Mora (nee Zelik, 1928–2018) is the subject of this painting by Andrew Sibley. Born in France, she became a leading figure in Melbourne’s cultural life after emigrating to Australia in 1951 with her then husband Georges (the couple separated in 1970 and later divorced).

Georges’ portrait was also exhibited in the Archibald Prize – in 1972 by John Howley and in 1988 by Caroline Williams.
