Richard Crichton Albert Tucker, reminiscing

Richard Crichton first met the artist Albert Tucker in 1962, forming a long, firm friendship. During the late 1970s and the early part of 1980, Tucker was a frequent visitor to Crichton’s, particularly following the death of Tucker’s son, Sweeney. According to Crichton, Tucker’s visits at that time were a means of 'talking through’ his grief, and the two artists would often draw and sketch as they talked. Crichton’s sketches became the start of his portrait of Tucker, which he completed in 1982. The work is now in the collection of Castlemaine Art Gallery and Museum, Victoria.
