The subject of this portrait by Kevin Connor is Albert Foulkes (1893-1972). Born Albrecht Simon Heinrich Fuchs in Germany, where he trained as a lawyer, he fled the country in 1938 to escape the Nazi’s anti-Jewish pogrom and changed his name after migrating to Australia as a stateless person.
