Originally incorrectly titled EG Hallstrom, this work is a portrait of Edward John Lees Hallstrom (1886–1970), a manufacturer and philanthropist who played an important role in Sydney’s Taronga Zoo.

The painting pictured here, by Lyall Trindall, is believed to be the one hung in the 1948 Archibald Prize.
