This is a portrait of the artist’s wife, Amalie Sara Colquhoun, in their studio. Amalie also had 17 works in the Archibald Prize competition between 1933 and 1955, and is represented in the Art Gallery of NSW collection.
The other figures in the painting are the AD Colquhoun himself, to the left of Amalie, and two students.
