EJ De Lough Here's good health

oil on wood

48 x 32 cm (possibly cut down from the original)

The subject of this unusual portrait by EJ de Lough – thought to be one of his 1944 Archibald entries – is unknown. The work itself, which has been painted on part of a wooden packing crate, may have been cut down from its original version and it is possible the figure was holding a glass. It is one of three works by EJ De Lough with enigmatic titles in the Archibald Prize 1944.
