This portrait of barrister and professor of law John Beverley Peden (1871–1946) is now in the University Art Collection in the Chau Chak Wing Museum at The University of Sydney.

The painting is one of 66 works by Henry Hanke shown in the Archibald between 1931 and 1972. Hanke’s 1934 Archibald entry was the first self-portrait to win the prize.
