Bessie Cooper Miniature (Title unknown)

miniature

Although there are no official records of either the artist or subject of this work, it is thought to be one of three works entered by Bessie Cowper into the inaugural Archibald Prize, based on an article about the exhibition in The Australasian of 28 January 1922.

The article states that Cooper ‘contributes some delightful miniatures’, one of which is ‘a Grueze-like lady in a decollete gown’.
