Lindsay Bernard Hall Portrait (Mrs Bernard Hall)

oil

It is known that Lindsay Bernard Hall exhibited a work in the inaugural Archibald Prize, although there are no records of the sitter. An article in Table Talk of 26 January 1922, however, refers 'a striking portrait of his wife posed against a background of chartreuse yellow’. The artist had married Harriet Grace Thomson, a nurse, in 1912.
