My body of work represents two of my passions, often thought of in very separate terms: art and the biological sciences, particularly botany. My intent was to create an intersection where Art meets Science, the circular presentation hinting at microscopy. Using photography as a medium, I layered focal points of interest to contrast with my chosen backgrounds. Using a paintbrush in a traditional way and adding glycerine, food dyes, oil and gold leaf, the works blur the lines between the contemporary (digital photography) and the traditional (19th century botanical illustrations).
