The title of my artwork, Caught in a daydream, expresses a series of thoughts that explore detachment from reality. The mental images formed are juxtaposed with both serene and unnerving ideas to represent the confusion and conflicting emotions that teenagers face in today’s society. The clouds are used stereotypically to create a dreamlike sense of the imagination. However, as the images darken they uncover the hidden and unconscious fears that the girl is confronted by. The texture of the watercolour paper in conjunction with the layering of images creates a composition that mimics the girl’s disorientation and lack of clarity.
